8th World High Speed Telegraphy Championship
11-15 September 2009
Obzor, Bulgaria
Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs (BFRA) is pleased to invite High Speed Telegraphy (HST) teams, individual competitors and visitors/guests from all over the world to 8th World HST Championship to be held in Obzor, Bulgaria in September 2009. The accommodation, the competition and all the meetings have been arranged to take place in Hotel Miramar (www.miramar-bg.com).
Applications for participation
Numbers of teams have already declared their intention to participate, as it was requested in Bulletin No 1. IT IS NOT LATE any other teams, individuals or visitors/guests to apply for participation but organizers need their Letter of Intent as soon as possible (see Bulletin No 1 or www.hst2009.eu).
Visa requirement
The citizens of majority countries, expected to take part in the Championship, do no need visa to enter Bulgaria. Those who need are listed bellow:
Belarus, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Tanzania, and Ukraine.
Please advise the organizers by e-mail to bfra_hq@hotmail.com as soon as possible if you need official invitation or any other assistance.
Expected number participants in each category
According to IARU Region 1 Rules for HST Championships up to 2 (two) competitors in each of the following categories are entitled to participate:
A - Youngster Females - age 16 or younger;
B - Youngster Males - age 16 or younger;
C - Junior Females - age 21 or younger;
D - Junior Males - age 21 or younger;
E - Females - regardless of age;
F - Males - regardless of age;
G - Senior Females - age 40 or older;
H - Senior Males - age 40 or older;
I - Senior Males - age 50 or older.
Please fulfill the expected number participants in each category in the table bellow and send it back by e-mail to bfra_hq@hotmail.com to reach the organizers till 10 July 2009 at latest:
Payment
There are lot of options depending on the status of the participants, needs of accommodation/full board/transfer, and date of payment. All the prices are given in Bulletin No 1. Accommodation prior and post Championship in the same hotel is also available upon request for Euro 42,- per person per day, including full board. You are kindly advised to use the advantages of the Reduced Fee. For that purpose your transfer shall reach the organizers’ bank account till 30 June 2009. When transferring the amount, please advice the organizers about its purpose as follows:

Those who fail to transfer the amount till 30 June 2009 shall be charged the Standard Fee (See Bulletin No 1). It may be transferred till 31 August 2009 or paid cash upon arrival.

Amateur Radio Station
An amateur radio station with special call sign LZ8WHST will be at disposal of the licensed radio amateurs during the days of the Championship. CEPT license is required to operate.
Excursion on the day off
An excursion to Balchik will be organized on the day off (14 September). Balchik (90 km apart from Obzor) is famous with the Palace of Queen Marie of Romania (constructed 1926-1937) and the Botanical Garden around it. Visiting these sights and spending an hour or more on the beach is a must.
Important notes
1. BFRA would like to remind all societies which have not yet sent their LETTER OF INTENT (see Bulletin No 1) that the Championship will be held during the vacation season when all the hotel reservations must be made in advance. Therefore BFRA will consider all late entries with a willingness to help but without any guarantee that they will be satisfied and participants accepted.
2. All the additional information and next Bulletins will be distributed only to societies that have responded and only to the contact person regarding the Championship. The information will also be available on the website of the Championship www.hst2009.eu
